Golf Vacations: Nairn Golf Club
The Nairn Golf Club is located in northeast Scotland, a couple of miles north of Aberdeen. Founded in 1887, this course has been added onto by several great golf architects who worked on other courses in Scotland. Great names like Tom Morris, Archie Simpson, and James Braid all put their two cents into making a course that many believe to be one of the best in the UK.
The Chance to Play at Nairn Golf Club
As a par-72, 6,721-yard golf course, Nairn has tested the skills of every golfer ever to set foot on it. The round seems to get progressively more difficult after each hole that you finish. The back nine will challenge the game of any golfer, so be prepared for your score to shoot up.
The opening hole, also known as Sea because of the view of the sea to the right of the fairway, may be the easiest hole on the course. You will have to face a fairway that has two bunkers on the left hand side. If you are lucky enough to stay out of the sand, you can then make a simple short iron shot to the green. Enjoy this first hole because the rest will not be so easy.
If you are up for a challenge, you should try a round at the Nairn Golf Club. There are golf vacation packages that include this course and many others, including St. Andrews and Royal Troon. You will be able to play all of these courses on one trip to Scotland. Everything will be planned out for you, making the trip very relaxing and easy.
